Our sessions

At Woodlanders Forest School we believe the woods have something to offer all ages from birth through to adults. There is no where like woodland to learn. The canopy provides a calm and relaxation that is vital to our wellbeing. It provides natural resources to create with, swing from and explore.

We currently run sessions for babies, toddlers and family's, holiday and Saturday club's, birthday parties, adult courses and womens camps. Please see below and the event page for more information and details of everything we have planned.

General outline of sessions

  • We will meet in Shining Cliff Wood, park at the end of the track off Jackass Lane .

  • Once assembled we will talk about some of the things we have planned for the session and the things we need to do to keep ourselves safe in the woods.

  • We will walk into the woods stopping on the way to look at anything of interest or to play if the children choose.

  • The leader will set up some invitations in the woods based on previous session’s interests or what the group have indicated they would like to do.

  • The group are encouraged to explore the woodland and do whatever interests them.

  • We will eat snack together and cook on the fire if possible.

  • We will gather at the end and reflect on the session with a chance to say what you liked.

  • We will pack away and return to where the cars are parked.

Babes in the Woods

This is a calmer session for babies and toddlers to nurture parents as much as little ones.  If you love spending time out doors, being creative and meeting like minded people then this is the group for you. I hope both you and your child will feel the calming benefits of being in the woods and enjoy the sensory experience I offer. Expect a mix of natural sensory play, mindfulness, crafts, mud kitchen and woodland exploration.  This session is suitable from birth to 5 years.

For more details about this session please see our events page.

Family Forest School

These sessions are the perfect way to spend some quality time as a family. There are not a lot of activities you can take a mixed age group of children to and them all be engaged.  I provide a variety of equipment such as ropes, hammock and mud kitchen along with craft materials and encourage exploration of the woodland. This session is suitable for all ages from birth to teens.

For more details about this session please see our events page.

Womens Reconnect in Nature

One Sunday afternoon a month we have our womens only reconnect in nature session and one weekend a year we hold a very special camp for women only. I find womens company essential to my wellbeing. This beautiful space is created by you and is unique. It is a space to relax and reconnect with yourself, each other and the natural world. We cook on fire, use mindfulness and meditation techniques and learn new skills to slow down the pace of life. I use the Forest School approach to learn guiding you in your exploration providing some inspiration as a starting point. You could learn practical skills such as fire lighting or spoon carving. You could immerse yourself in natural art or dying techniques. You could learn how to cook on fire. Or you might just want to relax and read a book in a hammock or meditate. It really will be your choice and you can dip in and out of whatever you choose.

For more details about our womens sessi please see our events page.

Saturday and Holiday Club

Both our Saturday and holiday club sessions are for unaccompanied children over 5 years. We follow the childrens interests and the opportunities the woodland and the seasons offer making every session different. These sessions offer the opportunity to practice fire and tool skills, den building, use ropes and learn knots along with natural crafts and cooking.

For more details about this session please see our events page.

Adult Courses & Professional Development
